27 seconds left in overtime, 27, Brett Hope scored with 27 seconds left in the extra frame, on the power play as the Ice Wolves won their third game against the Flin Flon Bombers this season, in a game with big time implications on the North Division standings.
The Ice Wolves would open up the scoring mid way through the first period when Graham Smerek put one past starter Devin Buffalo.
That lead would hold until Dillan McCombie scored his first of two on the night early into the second period. Brett Boehm and Jason Wark would pick up the assists.
McCombie scored his second to take a 2-1 lead into the third period, Boehm and Tanner Clark picked up the helpers.
That lead would hold until Brett McNevin would tie things up midway through the third forcing the game into overtime.
The loss means Flin Flon will finish in third place in the North and will start the playoffs in Nipawin. In the win, the Ice Wolves puts themselves in the fifth and final playoff spot, two points up on the idle Melfort Mustangs.
The Ice Wolves and Bombers will clash tonight on the back end of the home and home at the Whitney Forum.
