Riley Storzuk, Dylan Balaski and Brett Boehm each had two points helping put the Flin Flon Bombers (14-4-0-0) over the Melfort Mustangs (6-10-0-1) last night 3-1, the line mates were in on the first two Flin Flon goals.
Melfort’s Cole Hyrsky opened the scoring just before the midway point of the opening period before Storzuk tied this up close to the end of the period, with his tenth of the season.
The score remained tied till the third when Balaski scored the eventual winner 13 minutes into the third. For Balaski, it was his third of the season.
Cam Blair would score the insurance marker less than a minute later, his fifth of the campaign.
Backup Brandon Wildung started between the Flin Flon pipes, turning aside 28 shots for the win. It was his first start since a bad outing in Weyburn on October 19th.
Flin Flon now returns to the Whitney Forum for a pair of games this weekend starting Friday when they entertain the Battlefords North Stars.
ICE CHIPS: Flin Flon went 0 for 4 last night on the power player while Melfort went 0 for 2. --- Former Bomber Logan Sceviour was in the lineup for Melfort last night picking up an assist on the lone Mustangs goal. Sceviour was brought in during the off season in the Stefan Virtanen trade. He was then traded to Melfort on October 4th to make room when they acquired Spencer Mault. In 11 games with the Mustangs he has six assists. --- Flin Flon now sits atop the SJHL, one point up on the Melville Millionaires who’s in town on Saturday.
