The Flin Flon Bombers open up their 2012-13 season this Friday after finishing up the pre season with a 3-3 record, a record that Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan says isn’t indicative of how the team will fair this season.

“I wouldn’t read into that record too much,” said Reagan. “Its exhibition, we would have loved to went 6-0, but exhibition games are there to showcase everyone. “

The team lost both games to the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders and one to the OCN Blizzard. They won both games against the Nipawin Hawks and one at home against the Blizzard.

Throughout the whole pre season the team had a few key players not dress due to various injuries.
“Guys like (Landon) Hiebert, (Brett) Boehm and (Hayden) Dawes didn’t play at all, Greg (Wiwcharuk) played one game and Devon (Buffalo) only saw action in one and half games,” added Reagan. “It’s a good time to play everyone and see what kind of depth we have for the upcoming season.”

The team still has 28 players in town and will make final decision by the weekend.

“We have some tough decisions,” commented Reagan. “We’ve also been watching the wire and have been close to making a few trades.”

All players except Dawes will be in the lineup when they travel to Melfort on Friday to start the season. They will then play in Flin Flon against the Mustangs on Saturday.
